There are no atheists in the foxholes. Atheism is a delusion arising out of prosperity in peaceful times.
Put yourself in the shoes of Palestinian children, more than 3000 of them have been bombed into extinction since the start of Israel versus Hamas war, starting on October 9, after a terrorist attack by Hamas that killed more than a thousand Israelis civilians.
Can a Palestinian youth or his or her parents be comfortable with a simplistic thought that their is no escape, no reckoning, no final justice? They are just vulnerable and mortal and collateral damage and this is just a brute fact there is nothing else to believe. Rationality demands that there is no wishful God, who would hold all of us accountable at the end of days and make everything fair and just in the final analysis. Is this the highest rationality or merely, a confabulation or delusion of the comfortable in time of ease and prosperity?
There are 2.2 million Palestinians living in Gaza strip and according to Wikipedia the total force of Hamas is around 25,000. Put yourself today in the shoes of these 2.2 million and see what theology is most rational and practical for them. With this in mind, I present a collection of articles below.
For starters, watch a holocaust movie, first see it from the perspective of WWII Jewish victims and then the perspective of present day Palestinians. Only equivalence I am drawing here is the hopelessness of the situation and personal theology:
