The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Central Java (Kanwil Kemenag Jateng) has refused to issue a recommendation for permission for a national meeting of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at planned to be held in Boyolali. The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of Central Java explained the reason.
The event is an annual meeting of the Ahmadiyya Community in Indonesia which was supposed to be held in Donohudan, Boyolali, on November 17-19, 2023. Representatives of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Community (JAI) from all over Indonesia were scheduled to attend.
“The activity is being processed for licensing and then by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Central Java Province, recommendations cannot be issued due to consideration of several things, both from government elements, related government agencies and from religious figures or organizations,” said Head of the Central Java Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office Mustain Ahmad after an audience with JAI representatives in Semarang, Wednesday (25/10/2023).
During the meeting it was agreed that the agenda would be postponed or eliminated. The plan is to invite JAI to communicate with religious figures or organizations so that in the future JAI events can be carried out.
“We will be accompanied from JAI to meet with figures with mass organizations to explain what Ahmadiyah is, what Ahmadiyah does in Central Java. By meeting, by interacting, by explaining it, it is hoped that the activities organized by JAI will be smoother and of greater benefit,” he explained.
Mustain considered the magnanimity of JAI indicates that they are Muslims who uphold the value of unity and brotherhood.”This is proof that Ahmadis who have been communicating well with us are also Muslim elements who prioritize the spirit of ukhuwah,” he added.
Meanwhile, Central Java JAI Chairman Dodi Setyawan said that his party would obey the direction of the Central Java Ministry of Religious Affairs Kanwil. According to him, the permit is not the authority of one agency alone.”We as good Muslims sami’na wa ato’na, obey the regulations that have been issued and we understand it very well because these policies cannot be represented by one agency but collegially where the collegial has not given recommendations,” he said.
