Solopos.com, SOLO– Children are now playing and exercising safely and comfortably in the yard of the Suryapuran complex , Baluwarti Village, Pasar Kliwon District, Solo. Previously, they had difficulty finding a public space to play until they were overshadowed by injuries from stepping on skewers.

Azizan Atha Yamani, 13, plays futsal agile barefoot in the Suryapuran complex which is the courtyard of the Baitul Karim Mosque, Sunday (6/8/2023) after the time for the Asr Prayer. The area is an office as well as a mosque used by the members of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation (JAI) Solo.

Futsal is played by two teams with five members each, other children serve as backups, and some serve as referees. All children compete barefoot. The type of ball used is plastic.

Izan, his nickname, left the field when he was tired. Another friend who became a backup replaced him. Izan fills with energy by drinking water, the provision he brought from home.

While sitting sweating outside the field, Izan is ready to replace his friend who wants to take a break. Izan looked excited to play ball at that time. He has longed for a public space to play safely and comfortably.

“This facility makes playing comfortable. No stones, smooth, can wear shoes too. There are additional goals, so it’s complete,” said Izan.

Izan said that Baluwarti did not have a safe and comfortable public area for children to exercise before the ball/volleyball field at the Suryapulan Complex was inaugurated by JAI’s National Amir, Maulana Mirajuddin Shahid, Wednesday (12/7/2023) afternoon.

Baluwarti is a sub-district area with densely populated settlements. There is a field facility in the Ngabean area, Baluwarti, but there are building materials and the distance is quite far for Izan. Another open space is Alun-alun Selatan but it makes children tired.

Izan once injured his leg while playing at Alun-alun Selatan. The condition of the South Alun-alun has a lot of garbage so he has given up playing in that area. “My leg was once hit by a skewer until it was injured. There are also a lot of kite strings,” he explained.

A realistic option for Izan is the Suryapulan complex. It doesn’t matter for Izan to play at the Suryapuran complex even though the Baitul Karim Mosque is not his choice to worship.

Alvino, 10, also recognized the difficulty of finding a public space to play in Baluwarti Village, before feeling safe and comfortable in the courtyard of the Solo Ahmadiyya Congregation office. Another public space that is closest to his house, namely Alun-alun Selatan.

Apart from the skewers that are often stepped on by children in Baluwarti, what Alvino avoids is buffalo dung which is uncomfortable when stepped on in the South Alun-alun area.

Alvino often worships at mosques other than the Baitul Karim Mosque. However, making the Ahmadiyya Solo congregation’s office yard the main choice for playing or exercising. Alvino even chose the courtyard of the Baitul Karim Mosque before the field was built.

The condition of the courtyard of the Baitul Karim Mosque is in the form of soil and is uneven or damaged due to the passing of vehicles carrying building materials. In addition, Alvino often shares space with around six cars owned by Baluwarti residents who are parked in the courtyard of the Baitul Karim Mosque. “Alhamdulillah, now there is a field,” he explained.

The field is not only used by children. Adult women to elderly people usually exercise every 05.30 WIB on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

While the boys play volleyball Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday afternoon. Outside the schedule, children’s futsal is used. The girls also use the JAI Solo office yard to play in the sand in the afternoon.

JAI Solo Spiritual Advisor/Mubaligh, Muhaimin Khoirul Amin, said that public space for residents is limited. Even the Baluwarti Village does not have a sports arena. This condition made the members of the Ahmadiyya Congregation in Solo build a field.

“Our initiative is to make a good field, comfortable to use, and people can use it,” he told Solopos.com .

Muhaimin said the aim of his organization is approaching the 100 year anniversary of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation in 2025 by providing its assets to be used by the community, can be useful, and mingle with each other.

JAI Solo plans to build a child-friendly park in the Suryapuran complex. The Ahmadiyya Congregation in Solo has submitted a request for assistance to the central management.

As for the entry of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation to Solo, it began with the presence of Ahmadiyya Congregational figures around 1994. There was news that there was an Ahmadiyya Congregation and they held a meeting.

The Solo Ahmadiyya Congregation was formed on July 16 1994 after conducting Friday services at a resident’s house, Makno Karto Raharjoyang in Sangkrah Village, Pasar Kliwon District, Solo.

However, two months after that, stones were thrown at Makno’s house. Makno’s house is no longer used. Then the Solo Ahmadiyya Congregation moved to the building purchased by KRA Bray Mahyastoeti Notonagara.

KRA Bray Mahyastoeti Notonagara who is the grandson of Pakubuwono X donated a 2,750 square meter house and yard in the Suryapuran complex for the Ahmadiyya Congregation in Solo. Now the number of JAI Solo members is around 200 souls.

JAI Solo is the center of the Ahmadiyya Congregation in Soloraya. The number is around 1,000 people, including in Karanganyar and in Wonogiri. They do the study together every month.

Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka appreciated the efforts of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation in Solo to build a field that could be used by all residents in Baluwarti. He just found out that there is an Islamic organization in the city of Solo that has provided the assets to build a field and a playground.

“Okay, good, good, please. If it is used by the general public, we are happy,” said Gibran when met at the Solo City Hall, Monday (7/8/2023).

According to him, the city of Solo lacks green open space. However, the Municipal Government of Solo is committed to building smart parks, children’s playgrounds and parks for the elderly in all urban villages.

“We are tidying up the graves. We use the unused tombs for green open spaces,” he explained.
