TIMESINDONESIA, TASIKMALAYA – When the political arena uses identity politics or SARA, then that strategy becomes a cheap strategy. Differences in beliefs in life and politics must be put aside, including ahead of the political year in the upcoming  2024 elections .

This was conveyed by Tasikmalaya City Humanist Bode Riswandi when filling out material at the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Festival with the theme ‘Unity in Diversity to Accelerate Tasikmalaya Development’ at GOR Sukapura, Sunday (27/112022)

Bode said that the existence of these differences must be appreciated and even must be one of the strength factors that will actually strengthen the robustness of a nation that has sovereignty.

According to him, the issue of SARA will always appear before a political party is held, but after it is over, it will disappear by itself. He sees that there are agents who are deliberately created or take the initiative to use SARA for someone’s interests in fulfilling political desires or instead they entrust their lives by inflating the SARA issue.

“We hope that discussion forums like those initiated by PC Fatayat NU and the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Tasikmalaya Forum can be held more frequently in an effort to unify perceptions of how to push the nation’s future in a better direction,” he hoped.

By frequently holding national dialogues, he is sure that cheap issues such as those that will always be inflated by political agents will be minimized, so that the sense of nationality will get closer and stronger.

Apart from Bode, appearing as speakers at the event were former famous presenter Tamara Geraldine, Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan and Tasikmalaya influencer An An Aminah.

The event also presented various religious communities or organizations, from Wahidiyah, Ahmadiyah, Sunda Wiwitan, Isra, Bamag, Catholic Youth, Confucianism and others.

Each of them displayed their cultural art creations, from barongsay, jaipongan, Kacapi Suling and others. Meanwhile, Tamara Geraldine invites all stakeholders to strive to build a generation with character, not weak and not grumpy.

Chairman of PC Fatayat NU, Affi Endah Navillah, one of the initiators of the activity, said that activities like this could erode anti-tolerance towards minorities.

“In the future this meeting needs to be followed up with several discussion meetings so that we don’t have to look at it in terms of differences, because the discussion will not be finished, especially since the initial differences in political views will spread everywhere,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Tasikmalaya Unity in Diversity Forum Asep Rizal said that his party deliberately held the event in the hope of building a spirit of tolerance between religious communities so that it could grow more in society, especially ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections . (*)
