AMMAN — The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs on Sunday confirmed that it is following up on Israeli extremists’ break-ins at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif.
Expressing concerns, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh said that the ministry has followed up on Jewish settlers’ incursions of Al Aqsa Mosque, as well as the “Talmudic rituals” performed at the mosque’s courtyard under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, attempts to desecrate the Holy Al Aqsa Mosque and the rejected and unprecedented violations.
In a ministry statement, Khalaileh said that these violations would not change the Islamic and Arab identity of Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, which belongs to the Muslims.
What is happening undermines Muslims’ full right to pray at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, he said, stressing that Jordan is committed with the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites.
This all stems from Koran verses as well as Islamic beliefs that are supported by history, law and international resolutions that acknowledged Muslims’ rights to perform rituals in Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, he noted.
