REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SCUNTHORPE — After more than two decades, the City of Scunthorpe, England will have a new mosque for the Ahmadiyya congregation. The mosque, which is located on Cliff Closes Road, has now been completed and is ready to serve the people of Scunthorpe.
Reporting from the Grimsby Telegraph , Sunday (12/12), this facility will serve as a place of worship for the Ahmadiyya community and as a focal point for all those in Scunthorpe who wish to use it. The architectural design is claimed to be quite striking and was completed last October.
This property was first acquired by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community of Scunthorpe, in 2002 when it stood as a bungalow. The Secretary for External Affairs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in Scunthorpe, Adnan Muzaffar, feels that the mosque is long overdue in Scunthorpe.
“The bungalow we used for prayer became too small so we couldn’t accommodate everyone. There were also some problems with parking so we really needed to increase the space we had. And before this, there were no custom-built mosques in Scunthorpe.” he said.
“I moved to Scunthorpe when I was 12 and there was nowhere to pray unless we went to someone’s house which is not the same as going to a mosque. There was a need to fix this for so long and now we have a brilliant one. We first acquired the property more than 20 years, so it’s been a long time,” he added.
