Hamiltonians, especially Hamilton Muslim youth, have played a big role in producing and promoting a docudrama which attempts to tell the “true” story of Muhammad, in a way that calls on Muslims everywhere to return to Islam’s rootedness in love, tolerance and understanding, says a youth community leader with Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Hamilton chapter.

The Canadian-made movie, “Muhammad: The Astonishing Story of The Prophet,” will have its global première in a streaming that will be available all over the world on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is part of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at which is, says Omer Ahmed Sheikh, a “reviving movement,” which believes in the second coming of a Messiah-led message to Islam to “bring it back to tolerance and love and peace.”

Omer says “Muhammad: The Astonishing Story of The Prophet” was shown originally at a large event at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto in 2012 but has been updated and expanded and is now ready for its global première.

“Our mission is not to convert but to show the real Islam in which there is tolerance to believe what you want as long as it is not hurting anyone,” says Omer.

Hamiltonians, he says, were instrumental in creating graphic design for the movie as well as research, writing and much else.

The docudrama is a multimedia project, which includes speeches and stage presentations as well as dramatizations and archival footage.

Most recently a team of about 50 Hamilton Muslim youth, from Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association have been energetically promoting the production, helping with the trailer and spreading the word through various means and media, as well as personally each committing, among others in the association, to getting 10 or more people to join in watching on Saturday.

“They have already got 1,100 people in Hamilton registered to watch,” says Omer. He says it is expected that a hundred thousand people or more will be watching throughout the world, perhaps many more.
