Two Indonesian children got married in Sulawesi this week, after a long battle to do so which drew nationwide attention and criticism.
The 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl had sought permission from a religious court for their wedding.
The case triggered strong criticism at home and abroad. The government is now planning changes to the law.
Indonesia is a majority Muslim country and has among the highest number of child brides in the world.

This is also old tradition not only Arab Muslim but most all nations in the world did it.
In Old tradition a womam duty was cook, rise kids, and clean the house. Therefore Girls did not need to be educated.
Pakistan Taliban shot a 12 years old Pakiistan girl, she was so brave to speak up loudly to fight for equality between girls and boys.

Educated Muslim should not follow old tradition in the name of Islam. Educated Muslim have to reform all tradition in the name of Islam. Otherwise Muslim cannot live in plural society— as we see in Erurope Islamophobia persecute women who wear burqa or Hijab etc

In the West ‘start of sexual activity’ is around 15. With Muslims ‘start of sexual activity’ has to equal the age of marriage. Why am I the only one to think of that when there are discussions about ‘early marriage’ ? So stop being hypocritical.
