Did you know that 20 U.S. veterans commit suicide DAILY? Someone does something about it:

PTSD and the Journey Home

For many vets, the first steps home are a mix of emotions that many cannot grasp or understand. The happiness of making it back alive, the sorrow of leaving a brotherhood of friends, the anger of not finishing the mission as successfully as planned, the joy of embracing loved ones and the guilt of coming home alive….

All too often, the scars veterans carry home from the incomprehensible moments of intense survival they had to endure are mental, and serve as barriers when they attempt to re-integrate into civilian life.

The Chris Johnson Veterans Revival Project will provide a program to assist veterans in their journey home, a chance to slowly put memories where they belong and move forward. The program will assist veterans in ending the battle within and facilitate the journey into the next phase of their lives. The Chris Johnson Veterans Revival Project will give veterans a unique, structured and guided program to build up trust, teamwork and a new purpose as they overcome their hurdles step by step.  Together.

The Chris Johnson Veterans Revival Project

In the therapeutic, natural, wild beauty of the Colorado mountains, we will heal our veterans through companionship, conversation, and purpose.  There is a major problem here we are attempting to solve.  The latest VA study on veteran suicide indicates a suicide rate of 20 veterans per day.  We believe that if we give veterans a job to do, proximity to other veterans working through the same problems, access to counseling, better prospects for the future, and time, that we can reduce that number in our clientele.   But we need your help.  Our nonprofit organization is currently raising money to purchase a ranch where we can begin operations.  Our veterans will have access to many jobs on the ranch.  We have partnered with the ASPCA to accept rescue horses and dogs that the veterans will be paired with and will train, thus saving the animals as well as promoting the healing power of animal kinship.  There will also be opportunities in construction, as our veterans help to build out the ranch so that we can accept more clients.  Many other roles will be available as well for every aspect of ranch operations.  As we stabilize we will branch out into other operations such as operating veteran-staffed food trucks.  As each healed veteran departs from the ranch, we will provide support with employment assistance or placement and arrange follow-up with our counselors.  We believe that through our actions we can save lives.  It all starts here.  With them.  With us.  With you.
