CALLAWAY — Investigators have not ruled out that “ritualistic sacrifice” played a role in the death of a 3-year-old discovered in a suitcase with what appeared to be a knife wound to the chest, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.
Investigators still were processing the scene as the child’s mother, 27-year-old Egypt Moneeck Robinson, was charged with an open count of murder, according to BCSO. She was taken into custody a day earlier when she allegedly admitting to killing her 3-year-old son. Officers then found the boy wrapped in a sheet, stuffed inside a suitcase and floating in marshland behind a Callaway home at 7023 Benton Drive, where she’d been living with a friend, according to BCSO reports.
“There are a number of things that could have happened, but we’re not ruling out — as bizarre as this sounds — we are not ruling out ritualistic sacrifice,” McKeithen said. “This is so bizarre; we’re trying to walk softly on this and not make any assumptions.”
