Canada: Holy Quran exhibition at the Library By Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association

The exhibition will run through October 26 at the Library, 425 Holland St. West.

The purpose of the exhibition is two-fold. First, to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam and the Qur’an, and secondly, to allow the public to “see for themselves” what is written in the Qur’an.

All are welcome.

Bradford – For the first time in Bradford, the Library is hosting a Holy Qur’an exhibition, set up by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association.

The exhibition is unique. Qur’ans printed in a range of languages are displayed on two tables in the central Atrium at the library – and the public is invited to pick up the copies and read, in their own languages.

The purpose of the exhibition is two-fold. First, to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam and the Qur’an, and secondly, to allow the public to “see for themselves” what is written in the Qur’an.

With terrorist groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram citing Islamic tradition as the basis for their vicious crimes against humanity, peaceful and moderate Muslims are trying to counter their narrative by presenting the true Islamic perspective, through such exhibitions, inter-faith dialogue, peace conferences and outreach activities.

“Often the media poses the question, “Where are the moderate Muslims?” Our response is, “Right here in Bradford”, “ say the AMJ women.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the leading Islamic organization to categorically reject terrorism in any form. Over a century ago, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad emphatically declared that an aggressive “jihad by the sword” has no place in Islam. In its place, he taught his followers to wage a bloodless, intellectual “jihad of the pen” to defend Islam. To this end, Ahmad penned over 80 books and tens of thousands of letters, delivered hundreds of lectures and engaged in scores of public debates, in a rigorous and rational defence of Islam.

The community continues to spread Ahmad’s teachings of moderation and restraint, in the face of often bitter opposition.

The exhibition will run through October 26 at the Library, 425 Holland St. West. The ladies of the AMWA are also offering to apply henna, free of charge, to girls and women in Bradford on Saturday, October 25, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Atrium, on a first come, first served basis. All are welcome.
