A 45-year-old man from Guinea – one of the country’s worst-hit by the deadly Ebola virus – has been quarantined at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital in Agona Swedru, Central region, to ensure he is cleared of the disease.

Musah Donkor, acting administrator of the hospital told STARR NEWS Wednesday that Diallo reported at the hospital with a headache, but was immediately quarantined after hospital officials were informed that he came from Guinea.

Diallo has been quarantined for 17 days. He would be in isolation for four more days to determine if he would show symptoms of the haemorrhagic fever.

Ghana has tested over 100 suspected cases of the disease but all have proved negative.

The death toll from the Ebola virus disease has risen to 4,447, with 8,914 cases.

Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea have been the hardest-hit by the outbreak.

Donkor told STARR NEWS that Diallo has failed to disclose details about himself and how he arrived in Ghana.
