The National Health Service of UK is under ‘intolerable strain’ as almost 10 million admissions in England last year were related to alcohol.
Treatment costs the taxpayer £2.8billion, which is why the government is being urged to tackle the ‘public health crisis’.
Jackie Ballard, of Alcohol Concern, which has released the figures, said: ‘We urgently need action to prevent alcohol misuse.

Suggestion: as admissions due to alcohol are sort of -self-afflicted – I suggest that a ‘sur-charge’ be handed out to those admitted for this reason. Let them pay for self-afflicted injuries…
