BANGKOK – With an estimated 100,000 anti-government protesters surrounding Government House and the political opposition resigning en masse from parliament, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra today bid to defuse tensions by calling for new general elections.
It is not clear yet, however, that the electoral process will restore stability any time soon to the country’s tumultuous politics.
