Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Australia (AMYA), in collaboration with Red Cross Lifeblood, has announced the commencement of a nationwide blood drive, called “Faraz’s Gift.”

The initiative pays tribute to Faraz Tahir and the five individuals who tragically lost their lives at Westfield Bondi Junction on April 13, 2024. “Faraz’s Gift” aims to immortalise their memory through acts of generosity and life-saving blood donations.

Faraz Tahir, who stood as a paradigm of valour and commitment, had sought asylum in Australia from persecution. He had become an essential part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The “Faraz’s Gift” campaign reflects his commitment to aiding others. It invites people across Australia to donate blood and perpetuate his heritage of compassion and bravery.

“With ‘Faraz’s Gift,’ we honour Faraz and the five brave individuals who lost their lives, by inviting Australians to help continue their legacy,” Adnan Qadir, President of AMYA, says.

“This blood drive is a tribute to their spirit of community service and bravery. We deeply encourage everyone to join us in this life-saving mission as a profound way to remember and extend their protection and care.”

Registration for “Faraz’s Gift” can be done by searching the campaign name on the Red Cross Lifeblood website.

The campaign is a call to action, emphasising the crucial impact of collective goodwill and the difference every single donation can make. It brings to light how a single blood donation can save up to three lives and how everyone can contribute to the protective legacy that Faraz and the other victims left behind.

Adnan Qadir further added, “The Holy Qur’an beautifully articulates the value of life, stating, ‘…And whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind…’ (Quran 5:33). Faraz’s brave actions during this crisis exemplified this sacred verse, as his selflessness preserved the lives of others at the cost of his own.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, established in 1889, spans over 200 countries with a membership exceeding tens of millions. The community is the leading Islamic organisation advocating for peace and harmony across the globe.

Famous for its endorsement of interfaith harmony, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community champions the empowerment and education of women. The members of this community are renowned for their adherence to the law, active engagement in societal issues, their educational pursuits, making them model global citizens.
