SYDNEY: Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, the secretary-general of the Muslim World League and chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met Sam Mostyn AC, governor-general of Australia, at Government House in Sydney.
During his trip to Australia, Al-Issa was also welcomed by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils at its headquarters in Sydney, in the presence of several federal and local ministers, and Australian members of parliament.
The secretary-general delivered a speech addressing religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity, outlining Islam’s position on those issues and reviewing the MWL’s programs worldwide to promote friendship and cooperation among nations and peoples, thereby reinforcing peace and social harmony, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. He also reviewed the MWL’s efforts and international partnerships, especially with the UN, to promote coexistence and combat hatred and racism, while commending the Australian model in maintaining the cohesion of its diverse society.
