BEKASI REGENCY — The 100th anniversary of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (Jama’at Ahmadiyah Indonesia) was marked by messages of national unity and strengthening tolerance at the 2025 Jalsah Salanah, held simultaneously at 23 locations nationwide from December 5–7. In Greater Bekasi, the series of events centered at the Mubarak Tambun Mosque and was attended by nearly 1,000 participants from various regions.
The Chairman of the Bekasi Raya Jalsah Committee, Dr. Deden Djatnika, assessed that this year’s Jalsah was not just a celebration, but a form of community moral responsibility.
“The Jalsa tradition has been going on for over a century. Its essence is to improve morals, strengthen relationships, and deepen worship,” he said.
The activity took place with a number of sessions, starting from religious lectures, literature exhibitions, to congregational worship such as the five daily prayers, sunnah prayers, dhikr, joint prayers, and tahajud prayers.
Ahmadiyya missionary, Mln. Muhammad Ali, emphasized that the Jalsa is a forum for spiritual education.
“The Jalsa is established to increase knowledge and improve worship. If every Ahmadi is aware of their responsibilities, the future of the community will be stronger,” he said.
From within the congregation, the spirit of volunteers has been highlighted. Gilang Kusuma, spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya community in Greater Bekasi, stated that the Jalsa was founded on mutual cooperation.
“Everyone pitched in, from doctors and workers to housewives and children. They took the time to make this blessed event a success,” he said.
Appreciation also came from interfaith leaders in attendance. The head of the Grand Wisata FPKUB, Sandi Siswantoro, called the Ahmadiyya’s contribution crucial to maintaining harmony in Bekasi.
“Minority status is no reason to feel inferior. The Ahmadiyya has significant room to strengthen religious moderation,” he said.
From a national perspective, Nia Sjarifudin from the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika National Alliance reminded the importance of self-confidence for Ahmadiyah members.
“Bitter experiences should not deter us. Our constitution guarantees religious freedom,” he stressed.
He also mentioned the history of
Ahmadiyah’s contributions, including the role of its figures in the creation of the national anthem Indonesia Raya and the translation of the Quran.
“Hold the principle of ‘Love for All, Hatred for None.’ Be 100% Ahmadiyah, 100% Indonesian,” he said.
The head of the Indonesian Motivation Islamic Boarding School, KH Nurul Huda Haem, added a moral message about the role of family and social awareness. “If the family is damaged, the nation is damaged. Being pious alone is not enough; be a muslih, a changemaker,” he said.
On the final day, the Bekasi Raya Jalsah concluded with the distribution of donations to orphans in Tambun as a manifestation of its social commitment. The event, broadcast nationally, was attended by over 20,000 participants across Indonesia.
In his closing speech, JAI National Amir Zaki Firdaus Syahid emphasized the need for solidarity and service to others. “The Quran urges us to hold on to the rope of Allah and avoid division. Dedicate your time to helping the elderly, the sick, and educating our children,” he urged.
The 100th anniversary celebration of Ahmadiyah in Tambun was also attended by government figures, security forces, and community organizations such as the Chairperson of the South Tambun MUI, the South Tambun KUA, the FPKUB, as well as the South Tambun Sub-district Head Drs. Sopian Hadi, MM, the South Tambun Police Chief, Commissioner Wuryanti, and the Mangunjaya Village Head Jayadi Said.
A number of national activists such as Andreas Harsono (Human Rights Watch), Ade Armando (Cokro TV), and representatives of LBH and community organizations also considered Jalsah as a space for dialogue and strengthening national values.
The presence of interfaith figures, academics, activists, and security personnel demonstrated a shared commitment to fostering harmony and supporting the Ahmadiyya community’s contribution as part of Indonesia’s diverse society.
