KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Congregation (JMAI) held a tree-planting event in approximately 400 locations across Indonesia. JMAI National Amir Zaki Firdaus Syahid said the event aimed to support the greening movement and mitigate climate change.
“The tree planting is planned to last until the end of December 2025,” he said on Sunday (October 19, 2025) in Ciseeng, Bogor Regency, West Java. According to Zaki, more than 30,000 seedlings have been collected and are ready to be planted in 100 locations.
This activity also coincided with the 100th anniversary of JMAI and the 20th anniversary of ICRP. The tree-planting program was themed “Green Contribution to the Nation.”
JMAI received support from various parties to implement this tree-planting initiative, including the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut), the Indonesian Conference on Religion and Peace (ICRP), and the Asih Sesama Sustainable Nature Foundation (ALAS).
Zaki hopes this movement will inspire the wider community to keep the earth green. “We want to emphasize our commitment to protecting the earth, which is threatened by global climate change,” he said.
Nurul Iftitah, Director of Watershed Management Planning and Evaluation (PEPDAS) at the Ministry of Forestry, expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He stated that the government continues to strive to mitigate climate change through various concrete measures.
However, Nurul stated that the government hopes for public support regarding climate change mitigation. “We encourage the involvement of all stakeholders, including the public, religious communities, and social organizations,” he said.
