kicknews.today – The Regional Government (Pemda) of North Lombok (KLU) Regency is preparing to build a magnificent Islamic Center which will become the largest center of Islamic activities in the North Lombok region.

This project is planned to be located in the Baiturrahim Mosque area, Tanjung District, and will become a new icon that combines religious, educational, and social functions for the community.

The construction of the Islamic Center will begin in stages in 2025. The initial stage will focus on the construction of fences and landscaping of the area, as the initial foundation for the realization of a representative and modern religious area.

Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (Kadis PUPR) KLU, Kahar Rizal said that this project is part of the regional government’s grand vision in presenting a religious and functional public space in the center of Tanjung city.

“The local government plans to build an Islamic Center at the Baiturrahim Tanjung Mosque. We at PUPR only carry out our duties to prepare the infrastructure and facilities,” he explained, Tuesday (04/15/2025).

This Islamic Center will not only function as a place of worship, but will also be equipped with various supporting facilities such as a large parking area, library, study room, and religious center that can accommodate various activities of the Islamic community in the area.

As an initial step in realizing the project, the North Lombok Regional Government will relocate three Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) offices that currently occupy the planned development area.

The three OPDs are the Health Service, the Regional Finance and Asset Agency (BKAD), and the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

“The relocated buildings are three OPD offices including the Health Service, BKAD, and Bapenda, because later there will be built such as a library, religious center, and other supporting facilities,” he said.

Currently, PUPR KLU is preparing the design and master plan for the construction of the Islamic Center. The arrangement will not only cover the Baiturrahim Mosque area, but will also touch on the arrangement of the Grand Mosque around it, including the construction of fences and gates as part of the initial stage of revitalization of the religious area of ​​Tanjung city.

“We are preparing the design and layout of the master plan. Later, the construction will be carried out in stages based on the master plan,” he concluded.

With the presence of this Islamic Center, the North Lombok Regional Government hopes to strengthen the religious identity of the region while providing a public space that supports the intellectual and spiritual development of the community. (gii)
