TUE, 01 APR 2025Hundreds of Muslims in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region gathered on Monday, April 1, 2025, to observe Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the month-long Ramadan fasting period.
During the fasting period, Muslims were encouraged to embrace the virtues of patience, tolerance, and kindness, applying these values in their daily lives.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations showcased unity and devotion, as the Muslim community came together to share food and drinks with friends and neighbors, celebrating the conclusion of Ramadan. The prayer session also served as a reminder of the importance of spiritual reflection and self-improvement.
In his Eid-ul-Fitr sermon, the Upper East Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Mission, Maulvi Abass Bin Suleman, emphasized that the occasion was not just about celebrating the end of fasting but also about continuing one’s spiritual journey.
“Eid-ul-Fitr is a day of joy, acts of worship, thanksgiving to Allah, cooperation, solidarity, brotherhood, unity, and spiritual provision,” Maulvi Abass stated.
He highlighted the Ahmadiyya belief in the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Hadiths of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Quoting from the Quran, he said:
“And worship Allah and associate naught with Him, and show kindness to parents, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbor that is a kinsman and the neighbor that is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess. Surely, Allah loves not the proud and the boastful.” (Quran, 4:37)
Maulvi Abass stressed that Ramadan is centered around two key aspects: the worship of Allah and the realization of the pains and struggles of others.
He further emphasized the significance of peace in all aspects of life, noting that love and harmony among mankind, particularly in the Upper East Region, are essential. He called on all Muslims across Ghana and beyond to pray for the complete restoration of peace, especially in Bawku and its surrounding communities.
He also urged members of the Ahmadiyya community to pray for the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Mission, Imam Hadrat Khalifatul Masih V, as well as the Ameer in charge of Ghana, life-devotees, and missionaries for their dedicated spiritual services to humanity.
