“Pul-e-Siraat” translates to “the bridge of Siraat.” In Muslim eschatology, the Siraat is a bridge that connects the world to paradise and passes over the chasm of hell.
The word Siraat is Arabic for “way” or “road.”
According to tradition, only the righteous can cross the Siraat, while the unrighteous will fall into hell.
In one Hadith, the Siraat is described as being thinner than a hair, sharper than a sword, and hotter than fire.
In the Hereafter, true believers will cross the Siraat quickly, while some will have difficulty and others will fall into hell.
The idea of crossing a bridge to the underworld is also found in other religions, including Judaism and Zoroastrianism.
