Ahmadiyya is an Islamic revival organization that originated in Punjab, British India, at the end of the 19th century. Initially it was an Islamic organization in India which was the same as other Islamic teachings, but in the Ahmadiyya teachings there is a difference which lies in the recognition of the Prophet after the Prophet Muhammad and the Imam Mahdi. Ahmadiyya believe that there is a Prophet after the Prophet Muhammad, namely, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
Ahmadiyah also believe that the Prophet Isa a.s. has died and the Imam Mahdi has come, namely Mirza Ghulam Ahmad himself. Ahmadiyah who entered Indonesia were divided into two groups, namely Ahmadiyah Qadian and Ahmadiyah Lahore.
Ahmadiyah Qadian developed in Indonesia in 1925, precisely in Tapaktuan, which was brought by Maulana Rahmat Ali. Then it entered West Sumatra, precisely in the city of Padang, in 1926. This movement believed that they had their own prophet and caliph, namely Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who was considered a prophet so everyone was obliged to believe in him.
All Qadian Ahmadiyah members throughout the world must submit and obey the caliph. For them, anyone other than Ahmadiyah Qadian followers are infidels. And in Ahmadiyah Qadian, women are prohibited from marrying men outside Ahmadiyah Qadian. They also forbid praying behind an imam who is not from their group. This movement received opposition from various parties, but despite this they continued to grow and spread their teachings. Many Islamic organizations were founded in the 20th century, one of which was the Ahmadiyya movement in Lahore.
Ahmadiyah Lahore was founded in 1928. This movement believes in all the beliefs and laws stated in the Koran and hadith. They believe that the Prophet Muhammad was the last Prophet, after him there were no more Prophets, in contrast to the Ahmadiyya Qadian. The Ahmadiyya of Lahore allows praying behind the imam of any Muslim and he does not disbelieve other Muslims. This movement also allows marriage to people from outside the Ahmadiyah.
After the death of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, many problems arose. They argue that the Prophet Isa was an ordinary human who died and was buried in Srinagar, Kashmir. This movement believes that the Prophet Jesus did not die on the cross as Christians believe. With the death of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, they considered that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the promised Messiah and Mahdi.
