BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the attack on the annual event of the Ahmadiyya community in Panchagarh was orchestrated by the government.

He said that the government did so in order to divert people’s attention at a time when there is an anti-government movement going on in the country.

Fakhrul said these before joining a party meeting in Thakurgaon on Monday.

He said that allowing such an event without providing adequate security proves that all of it was preplanned.

Criticizing the home minister for blaming the BNP over the attack, Mirza Fakhrul said that such statements prove who were behind the incident.

He further alleged that the government and its agents have created fake IDs of BNP leaders Rumin Farhana and Harunur Rashid in a bid to implicate them with the incident.

Slamming Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader’s recent statement that the caretaker government is unconstitutional and has no connection with the people, Fakhrul said that the AL went on a strike that continued for 173 days demanding a caretaker government.

The people believe that there can be no fair election in the country without a caretaker government, the BNP leader added.

He said that the ruling party is afraid that its candidates will lose security deposits in the upcoming national election if a caretaker government supervises it.
