The Government Builds a Joint Mosque for the Ahmadiyya Congregation in Sintang, West Kalimantan

The government of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) finally executed the third warning letter (SP) regarding the Miftahul Huda Mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Balai Harapan Village, Sintang, Saturday (29/1/2022).

The government of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan ( West Kalimantan ) finally executed the third warning letter (SP) regarding the Miftahul Huda Mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyah community in Balai Harapan Village, Sintang, Saturday (29/1/2022).

The execution was carried out by the Civil Service Police Unit by dismantling a number of parts of the building, especially religious symbols and mosque symbols, then renovating them into residences.

Head of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Sintang Regency, Anuar Akhmad, explained that in the future, the government will build a joint mosque in Balai Harapan Village. “The Governor of West Kalimantan will build a mosque in Balai Harapan Village. The Sintang Ministry of Religion has prepared the land and the certificate has been held with a size of 25 x 100 meters,” Anuar said in a written statement from the Prokopim of Sintang Regency, Thursday (3/2/2022).

Anuar explained that the purchase of land and construction of buildings was carried out by the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. “All the requirements are complete, such as the approval of the community, village, sub-district head, KUA, and FKUB already exist.

The shape and size have not been conveyed from the West Kalimantan Provincial Government, “explained Anuar. On the land where the mosque will be built, Anuar continued, a surau has been established and has been used by local Muslims to worship. “A mosque will be built behind it. The surau will not be demolished, but we will use it as the secretariat for the mosque management,” said Anuar.

It was reported that the Regent of Sintang, Jarot Winarno, said that his party had given two options regarding the polemic. First, the Sintang Regency Government bought the building and the second changed the shape of the building into a residence. “But the second option was chosen. The governor of West Kalimantan will also build a mosque in Balai Harapan to become a joint mosque,” said Jarot.

Meanwhile, the Advocacy Team for Freedom of Religion and Belief criticized the district government’s move to threaten to demolish the Miftahul Huda Mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyah community in Balai Harapan Village, Sintang. The head of the Legal Committee of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation, Fitria Sumarni, revealed that the threat was contained in the third warning letter (SP) sent by the Sintang Regency Government to the Sintang Ahmadiyah community, dated January 7, 2022.

  1. As the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the other local Muslims have different Imams to lead the prayers it will be interesting to see how this works.

    Not impossible. In some villages in Pakistan in the past Ahmadi Muslims and others shared a Mosque and prayers were held one after the other. (probably does not work any more now).
