WALTHAM, MA–Muslims from over 70 chapters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community across the nation will convene at Capitol Hill this weekend to brief over 200 Congressional offices in Washington, DC.

Nasir M. Rana, regional director of public affairs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s Greater Boston Chapter, said that he will travel to meet with “our Representatives and Senators to discuss critically important issues like religious freedom, civil rights, and national security.”

He said he will join Muslims from over 70 chapters across the nation to convene at the Hill, which will be the largest group of Muslims to speak with political leaders since the travel ban was signed.

Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern, Co-Chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, will address members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at a kickoff event to be held in the House building on Capitol Hill.

Established in 1920, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is the largest organized Muslim community in the United States. Its members believe in the Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian and believe in Islam that teaches to obey those in authority and to be loyal to the country of residence.
