An international conference and workshop was held in Rabwah under the auspices of Abdus Salam Research Forum entitled Infection Diseases. It was organized by Department of Education Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya Pakistan. It took place on December 5^th and 6^th in Rabwah. Specialists and doctors from 9 countries took part in this conference. Besides Pakistan there were participating doctors who came from Indonesia, Nigeria, Hong Kong, S. Arabia, USA, UK, Canada, & Australia.

Within Pakistan many doctors presented their research papers who belonged to various health institutions and hospitals, like Shaukat Khanam Hospital Lahore, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences PIMS, Agha Khan Medical University, & Comsat Islamabad.

Various workshops were held on December 5^th and following topics were discussed: infection in newborns, diseases spread through water, infection control, infection of surgical wounds, brain tumors. Those doctors who participated in this workshop were given hands-on training. They were informed of modern techniques.

On December 6^th was devoted to plenary sessions. Day started with recitation of the Glorious Quran, followed by opening of the conference by Chaudhry Hamidullah, Wakeel-e-Aala, Tehrike-jadid. The auditorium of the Tahir Heart Institute was full to the capacity. There were three separate meetings consisting of 13 plenary sessions. Various topics were discussed, and there were exchanged of ideas.

The purpose of such conferences and the aim of Abdus Salam Research Forum is to generate germs of research in the youth, as well as to guide them how to do research. For this purpose a competition took place between doctors in the form of posters in which young doctors presented their research on posters. The competition was judged by doctors from the USA and the UK. Those who gained first and second positions were awarded with Abdus Salam Young Researcher’s Award.
