Jakarta, MINA – Taiwan affirmed its commitment to becoming a Muslim-friendly destination by introducing various facilities and services for Muslim tourists at the International Islamic Expo 2025 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) Senayan, Friday-Sunday (11-13/7).
“The Muslim tourist market is a top priority in Taiwan’s tourism strategy . We want to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming experience for Muslim travelers, from prayer facilities to 195 halal-certified restaurants in Taiwan,” said Abe Chou, head of the Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) Jakarta, in his opening remarks at the pavilion on Friday afternoon (July 11).
Taiwan’s inaugural participation in Indonesia’s largest halal tourism exhibition carries the theme “Waves of Wonder.” The Taiwanese pavilion features a “Box of Surprises” concept, combining three main themes: Muslim-friendly culinary delights, sustainable eco-tourism, and creative train tourism.
In addition to offering various tourism promotions, Taiwan also invited Indonesian Muslim influencer Indah Nada Puspita as the “Head of the Pavilion for a Day” to share her experiences exploring Taiwan.

Chou added that efforts to make Taiwan more Muslim-friendly include providing prayer rooms, cleansing facilities, and halal labels at transportation hubs and tourist destinations.
Taipei City was even recently awarded the “Muslim Women-friendly City Destination of the Year” award by CrescentRating in 2025.
“Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, is an important market for Taiwan’s tourism development in the ASEAN region,” Chou said.
The 2025 International Islamic Expo in Jakarta is expected to strengthen tourism ties between Taiwan and Indonesia, while expanding the reach of the global Muslim tourist market.
