JAKARTA – Members of the women’s parliament member of Islamic Organizational States (OKI) discussed the Conference of Women Muslim Parliament or Conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians which was held at the DPR RI Building.
This agenda is a series of events for the 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference in which the DPR acts as the host.
The 19th PUIC was held at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on May 12, 2025. The women’s Forum Muslim Parliament or 12th Conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians will be held today, Tuesday, May 13.
Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Irine Yustiana Roba Putri, revealed that this forum discussed the need to fight for women’s empowerment in various countries.
“So one of the most important forums owned by PUIC is the Muslim Parliament Women’s Forum, where we discuss the challenges of women parliament in the world,” said Irine Yustiana Roba Putri at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 13.
“Because many countries provide good examples, but also many countries have stagnantly stagnantly related to the struggle for women’s empowerment,” he continued.
Irine also mentioned the results of the Commission on Women’s Status or The Commission on the Status of Woman (CSW) which was held at the United Nations. CSW stated that the struggle for women’s empowerment was said to be off track.
Even though the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Sustainable Development Goals includes issues about women’s empowerment (SDGs point 5), only 5 years left.
“While we know that Beijing platform is 30 years old and only 5 years old from SDGs 2030. We have SDGs 5 which discusses women’s empowerment,” said Irine
Therefore, Irine said, the OKI Parliamentary Muslim Women’s Forum was held to equalize the vision and mission to strengthen the role of women in taking public policy.
“So in this Muslim women’s forum, we are both equalizing views, how can we provide the widest possible opportunity for women to be a part of making public decisions,” he concluded.
