Indonesia belongs together. Many groups invest in independence. The independence of the Republic of Indonesia, thus, cannot be controlled by only one group. One group that is often seen as not having any investment in nation-building, on the contrary, is considered to be destroying the peace of the republic, is the minority group, including religious minorities such as the Ahmadiyya and Shia.
For example, as an Islamic organization that is quite strong in the European region, Khalifatul Masih II, the supreme leader of Ahmadiyah in the context of fighting for Indonesian independence, made three demands. First, that Ahmadiyah members all over the world fast Monday-Thursday and pray for the strength of the leaders and the nation of Indonesia.
Second, calling on the leaders of the Islamic State to recognize the Republic of Indonesia.
Third, calling on all Ahmadiyah preachers around the world; Palestine, Egypt, Iran, Africa, Europe, Canada, the United States, South America and others to echo and write in newspapers and magazines in their respective countries about the Indonesian nation’s struggle for independence.
The call was recorded by the 10 December 1946 edition of the Kedaulatan Rakyat Newspaper .
Meanwhile, the creator of the song Indonesia Raya, WR Soepratman, is an Ahmadiyah figure. The Book of Memories of 10 Years of Madiun Regency , which was published in 1955, confirmed this. In the book, Soejono Tjiptomihardjo writes:
“…In 1932, Soepratman suffered from sciatica, due to his tiredness from working hard. After resting for 2 months, in Tjimahi he returned to Djakarta to follow the path of Achmadijah…”
“…In an effort to find inner peace and fill his soul,” wrote Megawati Soekarnoputri in the Speech of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia in the book National Anthem Indonesia Raya, “Soepratman then joined the Ahmadiyya sect. He pursued the teachings of this Islamic sect for several months…” .
There are Ahmadiyah figures who are quite close to President Soekarno. He is Maulana Sayyid Shah Muhammad. Mln Sayyid Shah Muhammad is one of the most famous Ahmadiyah preachers in Indonesia. In 1949, he accompanied President Soekarno when the capital returned to Jakarta from Yogyakarta.

“I had the honor of being selected in the group of 12 people who escorted him to Jakarta on the first Garuda plane , where I was the only person who was not a citizen,” he said.
Other members of the group included Ki Hajar Dewantara, Sri Paku Alam, Mr. Susanto Tirtoprojo, Kiai. H. Hajid, and others.
Now, through Humanity First, Ahmadiyah in Indonesia continues to serve humanity. Humanity First is an international non-profit organization founded in 1994 by Hz. Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the fourth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya . The aims and objectives of Humanity First are to provide humanitarian assistance regardless of race, religion and political choice. Now, the institution has been registered in 53 countries on six continents.
In 2019, Humanity First Indonesia helped flood victims in Jayapura by sending logistical assistance. The organization also helps victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi by distributing qurbani meat during the Eid al-Adha celebrations. In the previous year, sacrifices were held in Lombok, distributed to earthquake survivors in the area.
On the other hand, Lajnah Imaillah, the women’s wing of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (JAI) is the largest eye donor organization in Indonesia. Because of this achievement, the Indonesian Muri Record Museum awarded JAI an award certificate as the Most Eye Donor Community in Indonesia on an ongoing basis in 2017.
The organization donated funds amounting to 3.5 billion rupiah and sent 100 doctors to the Aceh tsunami location. In fact, if every religious group focuses on national and humanitarian work, then it is very possible for us to live in full harmony.
