Just another detail: a private Afghanistan evacuation

8h  · The family was in grave danger. The 34-year-old son had been abducted by IS terrorists in Kabul in March 2020 and brutally tortured for almost 17 months. He had to send the torture films to his father who lived in Germany since 2014, who was supposed to buy his son free. Whatever this one decided to do. He sold the house and yard and borrowed money.

In the summer of 2021, he traveled from Germany to Kabul. Shortly thereafter, the Taliban took over power; the father was stuck. His problem: He worked in Afghanistan for the Bundeswehr / ISAF and for the German embassy as a translator from 2002 to 2013

Negotiations in Kabul were one of the hardest missions of my life. Until a few days ago everything seemed to fail. But last night I was able to bring 11 happy family members into a Qatar residential complex in Doha and thus into the ′′ care ′′ of the German embassy.

The negotiations in Kabul did not take two or three days as hoped, but two weeks.

During the last 10 months there has been nothing more important to me than the federal election and our attempt to give German politics a more humane direction. Until I learned that the concrete life and suffering of an eleven-headed Afghan family can be even more important. I felt that I had to help protect them from the access of ISIS powerful and brutal in Afghanistan.

The Qatar government was particularly helpful in evacuating the family. I will never forget this helpfulness. The Turkish ambassador also personally called me several times to allow me to return. Surprisingly constructive, Taliban leadership behaved.

She cleared herself major obstacles at several meetings and just closed her eyes when it comes to critical issues.

Unfortunately, some foreign office officials were not helpful at all. I didn’t manage to penetrate the AA’s location center (′′ crisis response center ′′) from Kabul, whose help I urgently needed.

Officer in charge lit me up and just hung up. My daughter, who tried to get into the location center from Germany, didn’t get any better. This AA official has significantly made it difficult to save the family with his arrogance.

Been a dramatic couple of weeks. Several times the departure seemed to be finally failing. A lot has been cried and prayed for. We all can hardly believe that everything we had set out to succeed now. Above all, the happiness of the Afghan family cannot be described in words. Sunday night we all lay completely exhausted but happy in our arms.
