The following religious organisations have imposed the following to strengthen the COVID-19 restriction measures that Government and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services have put in place.
Methodist Church
The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma president Reverend Ili Vunisuwai all planned divisional meetings and worship have been cancelled for at least 14 days.
“All worship gathering in churches, cell groups, rallies, evangelism programmes, visitations or meetings of all levels to be cancelled,”he said.
Shree Sanatan Dharm
The Shree Sanatan Dharm Purohit Brahman Maha Sabha Fiji had advised its members who are conducting Ram Navmi Celebration and other prayers to do the same.
For Hindu funeral rituals, it is advised to be carried out with key family members, only and under strict safety protocols as required.
Approval should be taken from the nearest Police Station.
The Shree Sanatan Dharm will not be held responsible for any violation of the COVID-19 protocol by any member.
Ahmadiyya Muslim
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Fiji general secretary Iqbal Khan said the iftar and tarawih prayers have been deferred for a few days with immediate effect.
He said that the tarawih prayers may be offered in homes of Jama’at members.
Catholic Church
The head of the Catholic Church in Fiji Archbishop Peter Loy Chong said: “No religious services are to be held and non-work gatherings should not happen at all.”
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, in his nationwide address yesterday said: “No religious services are to be held. Non-work gatherings should not happen at all.
Businesses can remain open with COVID safe plans.
