Ahmadi doctor killed, three others injured in Nankana Sahib

A 31-year-old Ahmadi doctor named Tahir Ahmed was killed and three members of his family injured in an attack on their house in Punjab’s Nankana Sahib District, the spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya community said Friday.

In a statement sent to reporters, Saleem-ud-Din, the spokesperson, said a teenager opened fire on the family after they left their home after reciting prayers on Friday.

According to an FIR, the attacker identified as Mahad indiscriminately fired upon the family when the complainant opened his door to see his relatives off. The FIR has been registered under sections 302 (murder) and 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Saddar Sangla Hill Police Station.

The complainant told the police that the attacker could reveal during the interrogation who told him to attack the family.

Ahmadis have been attacked several times this year across the country. According to the spokesperson, Dr Tahir was the fourth members of his community to be killed in the past four months.

At least five Ahmadis have been killed in the country this year. “The state as usual has turned a blind eye towards the plight of Ahmadis living in Pakistan,” he added.

He added that PM Khan has ordered a probe into murders of Ahmadis and justice will prevail.

  1. Murder of Ahmadi community members condemnable: Tahir Ashrafi

The assassination of members of the Ahmadi community is condemnable, Pakistan Ulema Council’s chairman Tahir Ashrafi said Saturday.

The prime minister’s special assistant on religious harmony said that all Islamic scholars unanimously agree upon the fact that as per the Holy Quran, the killing of an individual is akin to the killing of the entire humanity.

“If anyone commits any crime and sin, it is the responsibility of the government and court to punish that individual — not the mandate of any person, group, and organisation to punish anyone,” he said.

The PUC chairman said that an investigation would take place to probe the killings of the Ahmadis in Peshawar and Nankana Sahib, as per Prime Minister Imran Khan’s orders.

    “Justice will prevail,” he said.

The special assistant highlighted that no individual, group, or organisation could be allowed to commit extrajudicial killings and cause chaos in the country.

  2. Bigoted mullahs are responsible for these murders. They brainwash youngsters to commit these barbaric acts on their behalf. How do they call themselves religious and living in accordance with the teachings of Islam? They are just hypocrites. They can be seen on various TV channels spewing out their hatred to increase their status among their followers. Some years ago, a close friend was targeted along with others when leaving his mosque, fortunately he was not injured but his brother and a few others were killed He decided that he could no longer stay in Pakistan and emigrated to Canada along with his family.

Until Pakistan ensures that all religions and minorities have equal status, instead of acting like a theocracy, and does something to improve education for all, instead of leaving it to madrassas to brainwash people with their bigoted beliefs, people will be in danger.

Time for change in Pakistan to join a modern and secular world where all religions are tolerated, so long as they don’t hurt others.

The same mentality exists with terrorists who commit murders on innocent people.

  3. Puppet Imran khan is lying, he is the sole murder of Ahmadis community in Pakistan. Ahmadis are not been killed by the people of Pakistan only but they are facing the state violence by Pakistan Police, Army & the third arm of Pakistani government- the ISI. They are been targeted because they are in minority & are demanding equal rights as other Pakistani Citizens.
