President Donald Trump is promising “big action” to promote school prayer, tapping into the long-controversial issue of religion in public schools as he seeks to rally the evangelicals who were key to his 2016 election.

“We will not allow faithful Americans to be bullied by the hard left,” Trump said at a rally with evangelical supporters at a Florida megachurch on Jan. 3. “Very soon, I’ll be taking action to safeguard students’ and teachers’ First Amendment rights to pray in our schools. We’re doing a big action, Attorney General Bill Barr.”

Trump did not elaborate on his plans, but he is scheduled to announce “guidance on constitutional prayer in public schools” on Thursday, according to his schedule released by the White House.

But while the First Amendment supports the free exercise of religion, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that public schools cannot promote prayer or religious symbols. And legal and religious experts say it’s not clear what meaningful action Trump could take without violating that precedent.

  1. Where does Ahmadiyyah stand for?
Do you agree with Trump and Evangelical policy in publct school?
Do all sect of Christianity pray the same prayer?
If not, it will create conflict forsure!
    With love ❤️

  2. I think separation of church and state requires that we keep prayer out of the public school to allow religious freedom to the atheists and religious minorities.

Prayer is very important in our personal lives but creates dirty politics when dragged into the public sphere.

  3. Zia—that is excellent statement of you.

What is about Women wear burqa, hijab or Jilbab in public sphere? Most non Muslim feel scare of terrorist ?!

    With love ❤️

    • When I see some burka clad ladies from the gulf region shopping on Zurich Bahnhofstrasse with their bags of expensive jewelry and other luxuries I do not see any Swiss running away scared. OK, may be the Swiss are more courageous than the Americans I suppose.

      • Rafiq, you and Ahmadiyysh still support Burqa or some ancient Islamic law like ISIS ‘s wives ( 100 per cent women ) wear burqa and buying and selling wamen for sex?
I cannot imagine it. Backward !!

  4. Somi, what is more backward – going around half naked or fully clothed? And where does one draw a line? Remember our ancestors and how they dressed….. or didn’t?!

So, as we (humans), got more civilized we started clothing ourselves. Are you suggesting we go back to the time of our ancestors?

  5. How about just keeping it modest? Humans fundamentally dress to protect their bodies from various weather conditions, that is extreme cold and in extreme heat in the desert where there is no shelter to protect from the sun. Only a small proportion of Ultra-Orthodox Jews were (and some still are) shrouded, and Muslims adopted this tradition from them. Mary, mother of Jesus, is usually depicted wearing a hijab, that was the dress of that time in the Middle East. In the ‘West’ dress has changed considerably over the years, and continues to change, but it should not be the business of men to control or dictate what women wear.

    • Love your logic! Indeed in today’s so-called civilization – working women’s attire is dictated by men and women area allowing that in the name of freedom.

Also, when you graduate – you cove ryourself with a gown to show your intelelctual high level and the same for when you are a lawyer or judge.
