Pompeo says God may have sent Trump to save Israel from Iran

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said it is “possible” that President Donald Trump was sent by God to save Israel from Iran.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network during a high-profile trip to Israel, he said it was his faith that made him believe that.

He also praised US efforts to “make sure that this democracy in the Middle East, that this Jewish state, remains”.

The comments came on a Jewish holiday celebrating rescue from genocide.

The holiday, Purim, commemorates the biblical rescue of the Jewish people by Queen Esther from the Persians, as the interviewer noted to Mr Pompeo.
What did Pompeo say?

He was asked if “President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from an Iranian menace”.
“As a Christian, I certainly believe that’s possible,” said Mr Pompeo, a former member of Congress for Kansas and CIA director.

“I am confident that the Lord is at work here,” he added.

Mr Pompeo came under fire during his tour of the Middle East for holding a conference call and only inviting “faith-based” members of the media to join.

How often do US officials invoke religion?
Mr Pompeo is not the first Trump official to suggest a divine will behind Mr Trump’s actions: In January, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told a religious television network that God “wanted Donald Trump to become president”.

Vice-President Mike Pence and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions have also referenced Christianity or bible verses in official remarks.

His administration is also the first in 100 years to have a Cabinet member bible study group – of which Mr Pompeo was a member.

  1. Those American Evangelists are not only deluded but dangerous. They have already elevated Trump to the status of a ‘god’, therefore everything he says and does is deemed unquestionable, so he and his team can more or less do what they want, especially as they believe in their belief of the impending End Time.

  2. Tschannan:> Trump is a jew. The jews have been poisoning us with their scriptures, (thru the Bible and Qu’ran), for centuries. Both books are transliterations of the jews scriptures + JC and the disciples and the Apostle Paul.

      • The Qu’ran and Bible contents are copied from the jews Scriptures (read the jews scriptures in conjunction with the Bible and Qu’ran separately (Bible contains disciples re JC).

      • I know that Al Quran and Gospel copied some Taurat teaching— there is no problem. Some of Moses teaching are still applicable to the time of Gospel and Quran. Why is wrong?

      • I noticed something else by u but lost it:: u referred to the ultra? (jews) and Qu’ran followers as old time (laws). Why r u so jot on religious rubbish, it is old, out of date etc. The original (jews scriptures) is written in hindsight, following themselves centuries ago.

      • Somi you surprise me this time. You also consider Al Quran ‘copied’. Muslims believe it is a direct revelation from Allah. It may appear ‘copied’ because it comes from the same source as earlier books. Logical.

      • Somi :> The Bible and Qu’ran are copied from the jews Scriptures centuries AFTER the Scriptures they did not all exist at the same time.

      • I readily admit that I am not a bible scholar, but I seem to recollect that the book of Moses is written in a way, as if Moses was writing it. And the last sentence in the book is ‘… and, no one found his grave until this day …’, showing that in fact the so-called book of Moses was written centuries after. An interesting book but totally unreliable as a ‘law’ or ‘guidance’. – By the way, when discussing with a priest he mentioned that ‘yes, your Quran is for you like the Holy Ghost for us’. ‘The word of God’. Again I readily admit that I do not understand the Holy Ghost. I thought he was a 1/3 god. Whatever …

      • The Holy Ghost is mentioned as having visited Mary. Therefore Heavenly Father and Holy Ghost are one. (+ JC 3-in-1).

      • There is no ‘book of Moses’. The book of Exodus tells the story of Moses leading the jews out of Egypt.

      • Moses teaching is in the 2nd book of the Old Testament, Exodus (early stages, the jews out of Egypt). Moses is known as a prophet along with Abraham. I take Gospel as meaning the New Testament of Jesus, his disciples and Saul whom he named Paul.

    • The similarities between Jewish scriptures, bible and Qur’an is simply because all prophets came from the same source: Allah the creator of us all.
