If the secularists, agnostics, atheists and moderates in all religions begin to see the need for implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, they will pull the rug from underneath the right wing politicians of almost every country of the world.

They already have the legitimacy for this negotiated document.  In 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed it, as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.

The thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, are a panacea for human dignity, human equality and human rights,  without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Implementation of this common understanding has been rather limited in almost every country of the world, despite a crying need for it.  Now that we are in reality in a Global Village with our social media from all corners of the world, constant education about it can genuinely take away any myopic views about parochial interests, whether they be Muslim zealots crying out for Sharia Law, Jewish extremists trying to make Israel a Jewish state with the exclusion of the Muslims and the Christians or their equivalents in Hindu, Buddhist and Christian majority countries.

I am of course not promoting anarchy and dissolution of existing constitutions.  I am only trying to create a grass root sympathy for this idea, of Universal Brotherhood and Sisterhood, so legislators in each country begin to bring their constitutions in line with this agreed upon ideal.

Any new countries could essentially adopt it in totality and then just hash out the division of power among different branches of Government, namely, Legislature, Executive and Judiciary and how would they be implementing this constitution in their exemplary country.

Never again will we have short sighted religious zealots trying to take away women rights or rights of religious minorities, in the disguise of serving God.  Such zealots are invariably serving themselves, rather than anyone else.  If they really want to serve humanity, I would urge them to rise to the highest ideal of service, without distinction on the basis of religion.

Just like the Supreme Court of USA constantly debates on constitutional issues the Supreme courts of every country will be debating, how to best implement Universal Declaration of Human Rights and which of the two or more positions being argued are closer and more approximate to the ideals of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Then we will have a Global Village with a loving and compassionate human family, every one feeling the pain of every one else.  This utopia may be possible in this day and age of Facebook and Twitter, may be not today or tomorrow, but in decades and centuries to come, God willing.
