Families of all faiths and backgrounds are invited to share a free evening meal in Birmingham as part of Ramadan 2019.

The Birmingham North branch of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK is inviting residents to the Big Iftar on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

It will take place at Daral Barakat Mosque (House of Blessings), 85 Tilton Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, B9 4PP.

The event is part of the Big Iftar, a national initiative “promoting neighbourliness and the strengthening of community relations.”

Saba Malik, of the Birmingham North branch, said: “We are a peace-loving community and aim to break down barriers, develop community cohesion and celebrate diversity which is a core Islamic belief.

“So on Thursday the 30th of May, we are inviting friends and neighbours to break the fast with us at the Daral Barakat Mosque.

“The worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, has stressed that Ramadan serves as a timely reminder that the true calling of Islam is to live at peace with God, with oneself and with one another.” s being organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK, which has been established in Britain for more than a century.

The program starts at 8.15pm and includes short presentations, Q&A sessions, mosque tours, exhibitions and networking.

After the evening prayer the event concludes with dinner at 9.30pm. Families are welcome, the organisers said.

Lebanese citizens, orphans and Syrian refugees gather around long tables to break their fast with an evening meal called iftar during Ramadan, in Beirut Waterfront, Lebanon on June 9, 2017. 1. I think this is a really great initiative from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at! This allows all members from the community to gather together in this blessed month and break barriers and assumptions that some members may have. Both The Ahmadi members and members of the community will also be able to talk to each other about their faiths which is always important. I pray this will be a successful and blessed event.
