The global leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community warned of the “critical need for peace” at the community’s sixteenth annual Peace Symposium on Saturday in London.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Caliph of Ahmadiyya Muslims around the world, highlighted the proliferation of nuclear weapons and the dangers posed by climate change and extremism as key global threats to peace during his keynote address.
Ahmad mentioned a number of pressing catalysts, including tensions between nuclear powers, conflicts and proxy wars in the Middle East, as well as far-right nationalism, as particular threats.
He also listed anti-immigration sentiments, economic frustrations and isolationism as forces which continue to push nations toward nuclear war and global destruction.
Ahmad also pointed out during his keynote address his concerns over climate change and the rise of extremism in the wake of the refugee crisis.
The solution, he said, was to promote peace in those parts of the world from which refugees are forced to flee.
Over 800 delegates from thirty countries, including guests from Greece, attended the Saturday event. The peace symposium was held at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, Southwest London.

Interesting to see which newspapers and news organisations have covered the event, or rather not covered it. My ‘google’ found in UK only a Wimbledon local paper to cover it. The larger national papers and agencies seem to have ignored it. This ‘cutting’ is from Greece, well done !
