The Gambia: Ahmadiyya Jama’at provides more food aid to WCR fire victims

A little over a month after supporting 23 fire victim families in West Coast Region, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at The Gambia, last Wednesday supported another 30 families of the 2018 fire and flood victims in the region with a bag of rice, 5 liter cooking oil, onions, clothing and cash amount of D500 to each.

The generosity, which was handed to beneficiaries at the regional Governor’s office in Brikama was provided in collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Committee.

The fire and flood victims also received dignity materials from UNFPA through NDMA.

Baba F. Trawally, Amir of The Gambia Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at said it is a strong Islamic teaching to support people whenever they have difficulties, “and that is why we are supporting these fire victims.”

He appealed to people to be careful with the way they handle candles, gas, electricity and other inflammable materials to avoid such incidents from happening.

Amir Trawally highlighted the importance of peace and stability, saying it is through that everything is possible.
Lamin Mass, Director of Admin at the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) expressed appreciation and thanks to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for their generosity towards the region as well as other sectors and the country as a whole.

Deputy Governor Musa Suso commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for their generosity to humanity, saying that the Jama’at is the first to support the region’s disaster victims this year.


Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of beneficiaries, Haruna York expressed appreciation and thanks to donors.
