The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has been present in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 15 years. However, they are not registered as a religious community, but as a non-governmental organization. During the war, its volunteers from Germany and England came and rendered humanitarian assistance. Otherwise, when it comes to religious aspect, the message of the Ahmadiyad came to the Balkans in 1920. Ahmadi comrades arrived at that time missionaries from India, “said Mufeezur Rahman, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat BiH.

The Ahmadiyas believe in one God and that Muhammad (peace be upon Him) as Last Law Bearing Prophet. According to Ahmadiyya Belief, in the 19th century, the promised Messiah – the Imam Mahdi – Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was born in India.

“All Islamic schools and scholars agree that the arrival of a reformer, named Ahmad Mahdi, is announced in the Qur’an and in the Hadis, and the founder of Ahmadiyya Jamaat says that he is the reformer, the awiated Mahdi. What Islamic scholars generally hold is that Hazrat Isa as he lives in heaven and will return again. Then, who is the last Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Uopn Him) or Jesus A.S? So, they themselves do not believe that Muhammad (Peace be uopn Him) is the last Prophet, “Rahman said.

Khilafet is an important institution for Ahmadiyas. Khalifa is the supreme head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community. For them, this time is the time of the fifth caliphate. This organization get finances through the contributions of its members. Whoever is considered a member of this Jamaat is requested to pay part of the monthly income for the community.

However, the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina does not consider members of the Ahmadiyya Movement as Muslims: “According to the concensus on Islamic authorities, members of the Ahmadiyya movement can not be considered Muslims because of their religious belief and teachings. They do not work within the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and are treated in a doctrinal sense as to any other sect, “the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina said in response to this media outlet query.

Members of the Ahmadiya movement have so far failed to register as a religious community. The application is awaited in court for several years. Although the focus of this officially non-governmental organization is on humanitarian work, a part of the Bosnians and Herzegovinian embraced its teachings are now community members.
