ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish authorities on Thursday formally arrested a controversial Islamic televangelist and cult leader on charges that include forming a criminal gang, blackmail and sexual abuse of minors, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
At least 168 of Adnan Oktar’s followers were also formally arrested on the same charges and taken to separate prisons in Istanbul pending trial.
Oktar and his followers were rounded up last week in raids in Istanbul and other cities after prosecutors issued detention warrants for 234 people linked to his group. Dozens of weapons and ammunition, a bullet proof vest and an armored vehicle were seized during the search.
Anadolu said Oktar rejected all accusations during his questioning, insisted that he was the victim of a plot hatched by plaintiffs and requested that he be released.

Adnan Oktar, Fetullah Gülen, İskender Evrenesoğlu and many other cult leaders have all claimed to be the “Mahdi,” a leader who is predicted to come and unite all Muslims. Hundreds of thousand people believe in them and spend their lives under their orders.
Many Imam of Islam claim he is a Mahdi, not only Ahmadiyya.
Also from Christian there are Priests have claimed he is Messhiah like; Mormon leader and TB Joshua ( Negeria)

‘on the fruits you should know the tree’ or something like that. The successful Khilafat of Ahmadiyya is proof of the truth of Imam Mahdi. Note: all other ‘claimants’ sort of ‘fizzled out’ during their lifetime. Easy, actually.
Reading Adnan Oktar I do not think that he claimed to be Mahdi, rather that he is expecting someone to come down from the sky. Please check again.
