Bogor. At least 8,000 people attended the start of the 2017 Special Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor, West Java, on Friday (17/11).

This is the second time Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, hosts this special convention. The first assembly, titled “Everlasting Good News,” took place in Bandung, West Java, in 1963.

This year’s event, titled “Don’t Give Up!,” takes place over three days and will be live-streamed to 11 cities across Indonesia.

About 2,000 delegates from Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam are also attending the convention.

Anggara Pardede, the media officer for the event, said the Christian denomination holds special conventions across the globe every year.

“Indonesia is one of the countries selected to host this convention,” Anggara said on Friday.

He added that this year’s convention is intended to help people who are facing life’s challenges, which may rob them of their happiness and cause them to think of giving up.

“This convention will prove to be highly beneficial to all participants to remember our Creator’s promise to strengthen each and every one of us, so that we will be able to not only endure the challenges, but also deal with them in a proper and productive manner,” Anggara said.

He said the event will be divided into 52 parts and delivered in various formats, including brief talks, interviews and short videos.

“There will be a drama series titled ‘Remember the Wife of Lot,'” which will be screened every afternoon,” Anggara said.

“We really hope to see them face-to-face while associating and building one another up on such a joyful occasion,” he added.

  1. I suppose we can assume that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at will also be able to hold their Jalsa Salana without any restriction in Indonesia.

    • I do, I urge Ahmadiyyah in Indonesia need extra efforts locally and internationally to speak up loudly and endlessly until your voice will be heard by those who defand Human Right, freedom of religion.

Do not give up!!! God will not change your condition if you do not strive harder. May God bless Ahmadiyyah.
      With love❤️
