If the unspoken goal behind the Trump administration’s anti-Muslim actions is to intimidate Muslims out of public life, it’s backfiring.
The hostility instead appears to be sharpening Muslims’ political skills, energizing dozens of first-time candidates running for office — from school boards to Congress. At least two new Muslim-focused political action committees have sprung up, and several nonprofit groups are teaching potential candidates how to raise money, give effective speeches, and counter anti-Muslim smears.
There’s no central count of how many Muslims are running for office nationwide, but Muslim political and advocacy groups have tallied dozens of names, describing the surge as unprecedented. In Maryland alone, around 30 Muslims are vying for state and local seats, a huge leap from the three who ran in 2014, according to the Pluralism Project, a political action committee that formed this year to boost Muslim candidates. Only a handful of Muslims hold public office across the country, including two in Congress: Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota and Rep. André Carson of Indiana, both Democrats.
Hamza Khan, director of the Pluralism Project and a Democratic candidate for state delegate in Maryland, said the ugly rhetoric about Islam from President Donald Trump and his associates fueled Muslims’ interest in politics, but it’s not the only factor behind the increase. Demographic shifts in the electorate and among party gatekeepers also helped. And, Khan said, there’s simply a bigger pool of viable Muslim candidates now: US-born or US-raised men and women who’ve graduated from top colleges and emerged as leaders in their careers and communities.
The momentum is exciting to watch, Khan said, but the payoff may be a long time coming.

Hello My Brothers and Sisters Muslims.
Before we as Muslim instead off criticize Our President, we are better to look at to our home ( Islam) that there is a some hate sentence such as :
Sahih Muslim 33—”I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah”
Sahih Muslim 4366—“ I will expel the Jews and Christian from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim”
I strongly urge Islamic Clerics to reform or denounce these Verses that showing hatred to Chistianity and Jews.
As long as we have such teaching in our guidance of Muslim… we cannot criticize Islamophobia.
Look at Jesus teaching: love your anemy and pray for them. Love your the foreigner as you love your self. It is great verses. Every one should implement this commandment from Allah and then we can see the peaceful cosiety that we hope. Let us start from ourselve.

The Problem with Ahmadiyyah, even its Motto is great, “Love for all, and Hatred for none”
But Non Muslims really know that Ahmadiyyah still hold Al Quran and the Book of Hadith as Ahmadiyyah”s source of Islamic teaching till today, We know that there many violent Verses and violent Hadith was written as Islamic laws. Non Muslims will not trust us as Peacefull Muslim.
Raffiq, there is no option for us as Muslim, we have to reform and remove all violent Hadith, then rewrite and reprint NEW BOOK OF HADITH.
I have a big hope from Ahmadiyyah, because Ahmadiyyah have been living in the modern countries, global soviety. Ahmadiyyah do not need to be afraid of any more.
The problem with Somi is that he should listen carefully to the Khutbas of our beloved Khalifa on mta.tv . He would then learn to understand our interpretation of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith.
@ Raffiq I want a real proof, not utterance. As long as ahmadiyyah still hold the old book of Hadith.. it is not real refomer… we need a new book of Hadith.. there are no more violent Hadith in it.
In 21 Century, Ahmadiyyah or other sects of Islam can rewrite a new Al Quran without violent verses in it. We live in America, or Europe. Goverment will protect all minority religions.
Woow, if Ahmadiyyah can do it. There is no reason for me not to join Ahmadiyyah.
