President Donald Trump’s ban on visitors from six Muslim-majority countries will be reviewed, the Supreme Court has ruled.
The ban, which sparked a wave of protests at airports across America, led to chaos as people with green cards and visas found themselves caught up in it.
It restricted visits from the countries for three months.
The Supreme Court’s ruling is a victory to Trump.
The justices granted parts of his administration’s emergency request to put the March 6 executive order into effect immediately while the legal battle continues. The court also said it would partly allow a 120-day ban on all refugees entering the United States to go into effect.
The court will hear arguments on the legality of Trump’s ban in October.
Trump pushed through the order in his first two weeks of office with little reviewing from key officials.He privately signed the new order in March, while Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Attorney General Jeff Sessions formally unveiled it.
