Canada: Ahmadiyya Muslims of Lloydminster hold ‘Islam Understood’ event to help locals learn the true teachings of Islam

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Lloydminster held its Islam Understood event Monday night to provide locals with the opportunity to learn about the true teachings of Islam.

Tariq Azeem, imam/missionary with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Lloydminster, said the event was pretty good but the attendance was not as they were expecting.

“We were expecting more people to show up,” Azeem said. “But we did have a few people, so some good conversations were carried out and I had along with me a couple members from the youth group.”

Azeem explained having the members of the youth group come around with him are getting the knowledge first hand on how to convey the message of peace and how to talk to different people, adding, “it’s a learning experience for them as well.” Azeem said the people who attended the event did not have questions but came to support them.

“To show that we need to have a tolerant community, a community where all religions, all cultures and faiths can get along very well,” he said.

Becky Walker was one of the attendees of the event and saw it as an opportunity to see what information was available, and to make sure she had information for her children if she were to hear questions. “There’s so much going on in the – … read more at source.
