Young Muslims joined members of the local community to clean the streets of Wandsworth to “help keep Britain’s streets clean” last weekend.

More than 50 youths from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Wandsworth took the initiative to ‘Keep Britain Tidy’, as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign.

Shafqat Ahmad, youth leader for Wandsworth said:”Our youth are always looking for opportunities to help our local community.

“To participate in the street clean initiative is inspired by the teachings of Islam which remind us that helping people is a noble act of charity.”

“We are peace loving British Muslims and will continue to do all we can to serve our local community as best we can and wherever there is a need.

“Cleaning the streets of Wandsworth was extremely important as we feel we need to help the local authorities in every way possible.

“It also presents us with an opportunity to become better Muslims as Cleanliness is an integral part of our faith.”
