A once-popular music venue could become a “mosque/community centre” where meetings, prayers and religious ceremonies will be held, new plans have revealed. The Burton branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK hopes to hold meetings, prayers, and religious ceremonies at the Wetmore Whistle, in Wetmore Road, Burton, which has been closed for almost two years.

The Burton-based association has been established since 2013 and members come from Burton, Derby and Stoke-on-Trent. There are approximately 105 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK, Burton-on-Trent Jamaat. Of these members, 50 live in Burton, 45 in Derby and 10 in Stoke-on-Trent.
