The head of the Stevenage Ahmadiyya Muslim association has spoken out against the “outrageous attack” in the French capital.

129 people were killed and hundreds more injured in a coordinated assault by Islamic extremist gunmen and suicide bombers on Friday, November 13.

Sagheer Ahmad, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Stevenage, said: “We condemn the actions of extremists wherever they may be, whatever their cause.

“We are with the people of France in sharing their pain. This was an outrageous attack on the peaceful innocent members of the public and they are in our thoughts and prayers.

“We consider this to be not just an attack on France but on the entire humanity and we express our condolences to the families of the bereaved and pray for the fast recovery of all those injured.”

Mr Ahmad said the world needs to unite against the menace of extremism in all its forms.

He added: “We believe in love for all and hatred for none, and peaceful dialogue is the only way to cultivate understanding and harmony between people.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those murdered in Paris.

“May God provide solace and strength to the bereaved and to their loved ones. Ameen.”
