PM Cameron presses Pakistan over imprisoned Scot on Blasphemy charges

Herald Scotland: DAVID Cameron has pressed his Pakistani counterpart over the case of a mentally ill Scot shot in the country while in a maximum security prison.

UK authorities want Mr Asghar, from Edinburgh, to be returned to Britain.

It is understood that Mr Cameron raised his case with Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistani Prime Minister, during a telephone call yesterday.

Mr Asghar, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, was sentenced to death in January after he wrote a number of letters in which he claimed to be the Prophet Mohammad.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, following the withdrawal of UK troops this week after a 13-year mission in the country.

  1. I don’t think that any emphasis should be placed on the perception that Mr. Asghar has “Paranoid schizophrenia”. The point is that there is no place for Capital punishment in Post-Islamic times for anybody who claims to be a Prophet, whether he is true or false in his claim.

If, following the stupid example of Pakistan law makers, Christian nations decide to punish all people for Blasphemy against the “son of God”, I do not see how “Muslims” will be able to defend themselves without being hypocritical!
