Background: With the filing of the Bangsmoro Basic Law in the Congress, the peace process in the Philippines has taken on a new momentum. Among the difficult issues that are still being negotiated and are vital to the future of this political entity are the issues of political and social inclusion and how this inclusion will be ensured given the Muslim identity of a majority of Bangmoro People. Dr. Ayaz will address some fundamental principles from within the Islamic discourse especially with respect to secularism and pluralism that can further inclusion to shape the transition to lasting peace in the Philippines.

Dr. Iftikhar Ayaz – PhD, OBE

Dr. Iftikhar Ayaz – PhD, OBE

Dr. Iftikhar Ayaz, OBE – has a Ph.D. in Human Development, a Doctorate in Education and an M.A. in Linguistics. He is Vice President of thePacific Peace Forum, a Senator of the World Nations Congress, and a member of the UN Working Group for the Rights of Minorities. He worked at high-level positions with the Commonwealth and with different organizations of the United Nations, such as FAO, UNESCO, and UNDP and International Commission of Peace (ICOP). He works extensively in the field of Conflict Resolution and the restoration and protection of Human Rights.  He is a Deputy Governor of the Research Institute (USA) and an eminent member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Movement in Islam and Chairman of the International Human Rights Committee.

Medallion for Intelligence and Wisdom by the University of Cambridge, England.
Man of the Year in Human Rights [2010] by American Biographical Research Institute.
Awarded the World Freedom Medal.
International Peace Prize (USA-2005),
Outstanding Professional Award (USA).
