Supreme Court Justices Reject Appeal Over Graduations In Church

Separation of church and state

The WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has left in place a court decision that said public high school graduations in a church adorned with religious symbols violated the separation of church and state.

The justices’ action Monday comes more than a month after the court upheld Christian prayer at the start of town council meetings.

The justices did not explain their denial of the appeal from the Elmbrook School District in southeastern Wisconsin, however. Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas said they would have heard the case.

In 2012, the federal appeals court in Chicago found that a giant cross on the wall of Elmbrook Church and other religious symbols that were visible during graduation ceremonies conveyed a message that government was endorsing a particular religion. The district no longer holds graduations there.

  1. The Muslim Times applauds Supreme Court’s decision and for our collection of Separation of Mosque-Church and State, please click here.

The Supreme Court recently reconfirmed the Muslim’s basic right to build mosques in USA.

Such decisions ought to be a beacon for every court in the world and for all societies, especially those who are sinking, into sectarian conflicts.

  2. ……and now for the “no compulsion of Religion” in the Quran to be followed by Saudi Arabia and other hardline muslim states so that separation of mosque/church from state will be complete and the Quran will be followed to the letter.

    Like President THOMAS JEFFERSON.

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts that the Islam is secular in its approach to other religions and their are several verses on this subject in the Holy Quran like “Laa iqrahaa fiddin” their is no compulsion in the matter of Religion and “lakum dinokum wa leya din” for you Religion and for me my Religion. In the history of early Islam all the wars were fought as defensive wars and for the sake of to establish freedom of conscience and the Holy Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) never forced any person to except Islam, however as the prophet was a mercy to mankind, the criminals of war who deserve death penalty for their war crimes were given a chance for forgiven if the accept Islam, this Mercy was shown to them by accepting Islam, the Muslims state will become free of danger from their nefarious attack otherwise there has not been used any force to compel any person to accept Islam.
Unfortunately the Muslims divided into many factions and the Islam was politicized like any other Religion of the world, not to speak of other Religions, now the Muslims started to cutting throat of other Muslims unfortunately in the very name of Islam, Allah and his Messenger.
Likewise the history of Religions unfortunately always been politicized and so full of bloodshed, in this very scenario the Religions of the world no longer were Blessing for the world rather it became a nuisance. This state of affairs on the one hand given birth to atheism and on the other Marxism.
Now the best form of Government in the world is that works and safeguard its citizens and safeguard their life and property and keeps the State separate from the Church, synagogue and Mosque and keep religion an affair between God and His believers.
We hail the Decision of the Supreme Court of USA, the other States and Nations should follow the Example so that there should be tolerance and peace in the world and the World should be free of extremists.
